What is Flexi Kanban?
The Problem with Salesforce Kanban View
As covered in Why Kanban in Salesforce?, Salesforce's built-in Salesforce Kanban View works for simple scenarios but breaks down quickly when teams need more — more fields on cards, more records visible at once, more flexibility in how columns and workflows are configured.
Organizations that have extended Salesforce into a full business platform, with custom objects and industry-specific apps, need a Kanban solution that keeps pace with that complexity.
Introducing Flexi Kanban
Flexi Kanban is a Salesforce-native Kanban solution built to go far beyond what Salesforce Kanban View offers — without ever leaving your Salesforce org.
There are no external tools to connect, no data leaving Salesforce, and no complex integrations to maintain. Flexi Kanban works directly with your existing Salesforce data: your objects, your fields, your relationships, and all the logic your org already has in place.
How Flexi Kanban Is Different
Where Salesforce Kanban View is rigid and limited, Flexi Kanban is designed to be flexible and powerful. Here is how it addresses each of the native view's key limitations:
Maximum 4 fields per card
Display as many fields as needed, with full control over card layout
Maximum 200 records visible
Handles large data volumes with pagination and infinite scrolling
Static columns tied to standard picklist fields
Fully configurable columns, including headers, footers, and data loading settings
Basic filtering only
Advanced filtering with complex, multi-criteria conditions
No workflow automation
Automation triggered by card movements — actions, notifications, record updates
No card styling or color coding
Dynamic color coding based on configurable formula conditions
Single object per board
Mix records from different Salesforce objects on the same board
Key Capabilities
Rich, Configurable Kanban Cards
Every card on a Flexi Kanban board is fully configurable. You choose which fields appear, how they are laid out, and how the card looks for each column. Cards can be dynamically color-coded based on conditions you define — making it easy to spot at a glance which records need attention.
Advanced Filtering and Sorting
Flexi Kanban supports complex, multi-criteria filters so teams can focus on exactly the subset of data they need. Filters can be set at the board level, the column level, or dynamically by the user. Card elements can also be configured as interactive — clicking an element applies a filter to the board's columns using the value that element displays as a parameter, enabling drill-down navigation directly from the card without any additional UI.
Column-Level Configuration
Each column on a Flexi Kanban board is independently configurable. You can control how data loads into it, what is displayed in its header and footer, and how totals or statistics are shown — per column, not just per board.
Workflow Automation on Card Movement and Card Element Clicks
Flexi Kanban can trigger automated actions from two sources: moving a card from one column to another, and clicking a configured element on a card. Both support the same range of actions — updating related records, sending notifications, firing Salesforce flows, or opening forms. Card elements can each be configured independently, so different elements on the same card can trigger different actions. This turns the board from a passive visualization into an active part of your workflow.
Multiple Salesforce Objects on One Board
A single Flexi Kanban board can display records from different Salesforce objects simultaneously. This makes it possible to represent mixed or cross-functional workflows without needing separate boards for each object.
Salesforce-Native and Secure
Because Flexi Kanban runs entirely within your Salesforce org, it respects all existing security settings, sharing rules, and field-level permissions. No data ever leaves Salesforce.
Three Board Types for Every Need
Flexi Kanban supports three board types — Standard, Child, and Composite — each designed for a different deployment scenario. Together they cover the full spectrum of how teams need to visualize and act on their work in Salesforce.
