# How to Create a Standard Kanban
Open "Kanbans" tab and click “New” button in the upper right corner of the page to open Kanban creation wizard:
At the first step select Standard kanban type.
* Click "Next" button to go to second step of wizard
* Select Kanban Color Theme
* Enter Kanban name
* Populate description (if it is necessary):
* Click "Next" button and go to step 3.
At the next step you can set up initial Kanban configuration.
**For Standard Kanban:**
* Select a Source Object
* Then select a field which values will be represented by columns and updated by card dragging (if you use default actions) in "Group By" picklist
* Optionally select a field in "Summarize by" if you want kanban to show totals calculated for proper values in the footer of each column:
* Click "Next" button.
* At the next step select necessary values of "Group By" field in the "Available Values" section and click "►" button to add them to the "Add columns for" section. Select all of them, or those which should be represented in columns:
* Rearrange them as you wish with "▲" and "▼" buttons. Note: topmost selected value will correspond to leftmost column:
* Leave "Allow users to move cards between columns" toggler on if you want to turn on card dragging and pre-configure kanban with standard action that will allow cards to be updated correspondingly to columns.
* Click "Next" button
* Select fields to be shown on card compact layout and rearrange them, if necessary.

Note: topmost field will be used as card header, that will be always visible on card layout (actual for collapsible cards)

Note: you should select at least one field, and not more than 12. But you can add more when [configure card](https://docs.flexikanban.ai/standard-kanban/configure-card) manually later.

* If you want to show field names as labels in the card, leave "Display field labels on Kanban cards" toggler on, otherwise turn it off to show only field values.
* Click "Next" button
* At the following step you can ask AI to generate color ideas. See [example page](https://docs.flexikanban.ai/get-started/how-to-build-a-simple-kanban-using-creation-wizard-abilities) to know more.
* At the last step you can review your Kanban brief summary information
* Click "Save" or "Back" button (if you want to correct options):
* If you do not want to open new kanban in the advanced editor, you can turn "Launch Advanced Kanban Builder After Wizard Completion" toggler off - in this case you will go to kanbans tab after saving.
* If you leave toggler on, after clicking "Save" you will go to standard Kanban editor:
Columns with conditions will be set correspondingly to the creation wizard:
Card will have elements added correspondingly to the creation wizard.
First (topmost) of them will be used as card header and has no label by default. Other fields will be added (with or without labels) corresponding to field name:
Card also will have main layout set with **body**, header **title**, and **footer button** with standard "View record" handler:
