# Kanban Studio

### What It Is

**Kanban Studio** is the dedicated configuration environment for Flexi Kanban boards. It gives admins full control over every aspect of a board — from how columns are structured and what cards display, to workflow automation, dynamic styling, and user interaction behavior.

Where the Kanban Wizard gets you to a working board quickly, Kanban Studio is where you shape that board into something precisely tailored to your team's workflow and data.

### What You Can Configure in Kanban Studio

Kanban Studio covers configuration at every level of the board:

#### Board-Level Configuration

* Board type (Standard or Child) and source object(s)
* Grouping field(s) that define the column structure
* Global filters and data loading settings
* Views (saved filter combinations available to users)
* Quick Filters and Statistics — and whether they appear in the Kanban Header or Highlights Panel
* Custom Buttons in the Kanban Header
* Swimlanes

#### Column Configuration

Each column is independently configurable:

* Which values map to this column
* Column Header and Footer content — including record counts, aggregate totals, and custom labels
* Column-level data loading settings

#### Card Configuration

* Which fields and elements appear on each Kanban Card
* Layout and arrangement of Card Elements
* Dynamic color coding and styling based on formula conditions
* **Handlers** — the interactions that fire when a user clicks a Card Element or Custom Button

A Handler defines what happens when a user interacts with a UI element on the board. Flexi Kanban supports multiple Handler types, including opening a Form, navigating to a record or page, showing an email composer or dial pad, firing an event, or executing an Action or Action Group. #### Card Layout (Detail Panel)

Card Layout controls what is displayed in the **Detail Panel** — the side panel that opens when a user clicks on a Kanban Card to view its full details. Admins configure which fields and sections appear in the Detail Panel, how they are arranged, and whether the panel uses vertical tabs to organize content into multiple views.

#### Automation

* Actions and Action Groups triggered by card movement between columns
* Conditions that control when automation fires

### Compact Card Layout Builder

The **Compact Card Layout Builder** is a specialized mode within Kanban Studio focused specifically on designing the visual layout of Kanban Cards. It provides a dedicated workspace for configuring Card Elements — what each element displays, how it is styled, and what interaction it triggers.

In an upcoming release, the Compact Card Layout Builder will also be accessible directly from the Kanban board via a context menu, available to users who are creators or editors of that board.

### Who Can Access Kanban Studio

Kanban Studio is accessible to the creator of a board and any users who have been granted edit access permissions by an admin. This is the same permission that controls visibility of the **Edit Kanban** option in the Standard Actions Menu on the board.
