# Build Your First Board in 5 Minutes

In this tutorial, you will create your first working **Opportunity** Kanban board using the **Kanban Creation Wizard**.

You will start from the **Kanbans** tab, create a new board, choose **Opportunity** as the source object, and group records by **Stage**. By the end, you will have a fully functional board that is ready to use right away.

{% hint style="info" %}
This tutorial focuses on the fastest way to create a working board. You can enhance it later in **Kanban Studio** with advanced layouts, color-codings, filters, interactions, forms, and automations.
{% endhint %}

### Before you begin

Before starting, make sure:

* Flexi Kanban is installed in your Salesforce org
* your user has a [Flexi Kanban license and a permission](https://docs.flexikanban.ai/get-started/assign-licenses-and-permissions) set assigned
* your Salesforce org utilizes the Opportunity object, and you have some opportunity records.

### What you will build

In this tutorial, you will create:

* a Kanban board based on **Opportunity** records
* columns grouped by **Stage**
* optional stage summaries based on **Amount**
* cards displaying key Opportunity fields
* optional AI-assisted card color coding

This is the fastest way to create a practical first board and understand the basic Flexi Kanban setup flow.

### Open the Flexi Kanban app

In Salesforce:

1. Open the **App Launcher**.
2. Search for **Flexi Kanban**.
3. Select the **Flexi Kanban** app.
4. Open the **Kanbans** tab.
5. Click **New**.

This opens the **Kanban Creation Wizard**.

### Step 1: Select the Kanban Type

In the first step of the **Kanban Creation Wizard**, select the **Standard Kanban** type. This is the best option for creating a basic board from a single Salesforce object such as **Opportunity**.

<figure><img src="https://3097383375-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FK2dgObBO5ydOH2ZXDJLa%2Fuploads%2FHfJpbCEpbYUQe0NxeeXd%2Fimage.png?alt=media&#x26;token=96692eaa-e0aa-4020-89b3-3e160ed4127a" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

After selecting **Standard Kanban**, click **Next**.

### Step 2: Personalize the Board

In this step, define the basic identity and visual style of your board.

You can:

* choose one of the predefined color themes
* enter a name for the board
* optionally add a description

For example, you can name the board:

* **Opportunities by Stage**
* **Sales Pipeline**
* **Opportunity Workflow Board**

<figure><img src="https://3097383375-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FK2dgObBO5ydOH2ZXDJLa%2Fuploads%2F4oBSDIYYHFGXmlhFABbo%2Fimage.png?alt=media&#x26;token=17696fd8-f1e9-4984-bb9e-87c2a09d58ff" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

After entering the required information, click **Next**.

### Step 3: Configure Data and Grouping

In this step, define what records the board should display and how they should be organized.

Select:

* **Opportunity** as the data source
* **Stage** as the field used to group records into columns

You can also enable stage-level summarization by selecting the fields used for totals, such as **Amount**.

This allows Flexi Kanban to show Opportunity records grouped by Stage and optionally summarized by value in each column.

<figure><img src="https://3097383375-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FK2dgObBO5ydOH2ZXDJLa%2Fuploads%2FeEllw88MHvRcp6l8NWgn%2Fimage.png?alt=media&#x26;token=09c1e011-2d7d-443b-b4b6-a7d27b406a42" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

After entering the required information, click **Next**.

### Step 4: Add Columns

Add columns for the stages you want to include in the board.

Typically, this means adding columns for all stages in your sales process.

One important advantage of Flexi Kanban is that it allows you to include a column for **lost opportunities**. This helps your team track lost deals and identify patterns over time.

This solves an important limitation of the standard Salesforce Kanban view, where lost opportunities are not displayed.

<figure><img src="https://3097383375-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FK2dgObBO5ydOH2ZXDJLa%2Fuploads%2FWEbpUXj5bJjfLaT0hBcb%2Fimage.png?alt=media&#x26;token=7fd46aef-6bfd-4bad-b14b-8462b3df18e2" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

After selecting the columns you want to include, click **Next**.

### Step 5: Select Card Fields

Choose which Opportunity fields should appear on the Kanban cards.

Add the key fields your users need to see directly on the board, such as:

* Opportunity Name
* Account Name
* Amount
* Close Date
* Opportunity Type
* Owner's Full Name

Flexi Kanban supports **unlimited field options** on cards, which provides much greater flexibility than the standard Salesforce Kanban view, which is limited to four fields.

<figure><img src="https://3097383375-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FK2dgObBO5ydOH2ZXDJLa%2Fuploads%2FGpuG7AUcvWKbJSXOOitR%2Fimage.png?alt=media&#x26;token=42d49f78-8714-4580-8d07-b8c57c953af5" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

After selecting the fields you want to display, click **Next**.

### Step 6: Apply AI-Assisted Color Coding (Optional)

To help users quickly identify important records, you can apply color coding based on Opportunity data.

In this step:

1. Click **Generate Color Coding Ideas** to let the integrated AI-powered assistant suggest initial color-coding rules that you can adjust later in the Kanban Studio if needed.
2. Review the generated summary and suggested mapping by clicking **View Color Legend**.
3. Select the ideas that best match your business needs.

<figure><img src="https://3097383375-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FK2dgObBO5ydOH2ZXDJLa%2Fuploads%2FRcgfUFfON1tBgRDEDDt8%2Fimage.png?alt=media&#x26;token=33c0caae-2fd8-4f65-88de-64063fbd907a" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

For example, you might choose to color-code cards based on:

* Opportunity Type
* Amount
* Close Date

This helps users visually spot high-value, urgent, or strategically important opportunities.

<figure><img src="https://3097383375-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FK2dgObBO5ydOH2ZXDJLa%2Fuploads%2FwNFxfqkjVkaTxuX4bB3n%2Fimage.png?alt=media&#x26;token=904e6078-202f-4ab9-8685-602d4de5a81a" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

After selecting the color-coding ideas you want to use, click **Next**.

### Step 7: Finalize the Board

To generate the board, review configuration settings and click **Finish**.

Before finishing, make sure to uncheck **Launch Advanced Kanban Builder.**&#x20;

This keeps the tutorial focused on the simplest onboarding flow. Instead of opening the board in **Kanban Builder/Studio**, Flexi Kanban will create the board and let you open it first in **Viewer mode**.

<figure><img src="https://3097383375-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FK2dgObBO5ydOH2ZXDJLa%2Fuploads%2FSjEIrNazBbZyYDbxZTSy%2Fimage.png?alt=media&#x26;token=7d4b18f3-1f3e-48a8-968a-7208b093c888" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Flexi Kanban creates the initial board based on the configuration you selected in the Wizard.

As a result, your Opportunity records are:

* arranged into columns based on their current Stage
* optionally summarized by stage totals
* displayed with the card fields you selected
* visually categorized using the color-coding rules you applied

Your board is now ready to use.
